What's in my uni bag? // Semester 1 2014
If you didn't already know, two years ago I used to upload videos to Youtube. Videos like tags and hauls. I recently decided to get back into it so here's my second video that I uploaded last week showing you what I take to uni! I'm still getting back into the swing of it though and getting used to talking to a camera again. Hope you enjoy!

Birthday Wishlist
My birthday is coming up in less than two weeks so I thought I'd whip up a lil wishlist. I am fully aware that I obviously won't receive all of this (or any of it) but I thought I'd make a post for a lil fun.
I'd love a laptop but I think I'm dreaming a little too big here. My last one slowly broke and is barely in one piece (long story haha) so I'm currently sharing with my mum. I also wouldn't mind some 'birthday money' so I can put some aside, and also spend some on what I'd like (even what's on this list). Or even using the money to get my hair done! I'm in desperate need of a hair cut and my roots are currently disgraceful haha. I'm currently really tempted to try an ombre sort of thing. I'd been thinking about it then Karissa Pukas got her hair done and I love it - I think I want something like hers.
I've mentioned both of these in my lusts of the week's but I'm still obsessed with Mimco pouches. I love the small leather one and the larger shiny black one. I die. Also still lusting over the Jase heels from Lipstik. The weekend after my birthday I'm going out with friends and these would go perfectly with my outfit. Might just buy them as a present to myself!

NICOLE X MISSGUIDED
As you may already be aware, Missguided have just come out with a new collection in collaboration with former Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger. The collection is absolutely gorgeous, not to mention sexy. Monochrome, mesh, leather and cut-outs - some of my favourite trends going right now! Wanting to pick so much of this up (I need to save some money first!)

Internet friendships are sometimes the best
I think this needs a bit of a back story before I jump right in.
About four years ago, I joined Tumblr. (I've met some of my best friends because of Tumblr!) I don't even know how it happened but not long after I joined I made friends with another user, Marcia. We were the same age and had similar blog content, except she lived 2-3 hours away from me in Newcastle. We met briefly for the first time back in 2011 (I think..) when I was visiting other Tumblr friends in Newcastle. We met again in December of 2011 when she came to Sydney for the day with her friend Karishma and we showed her all of the touristy things. Between those times of meeting we became closer. The next time I saw her was in January of last year (2013) when we spent ten days holidaying and partying at The Gold Coast in Queensland with three of her friends. Ten days is a long time so I think it's safe to say that we've seen the very best and worst (she's definitely seen my worst) of each other and obviously seeing somebody 24 hours a a day for ten days straight is ought to bring you closer which it did. She then moved further north to Coffs Harbour for university, which makes it harder to see each other.
Last weekend she was down in Sydney for uni so we knew we HAD to meet up! (you would have seen some snaps if you follow me on Instagram @emhewitt_) So on Friday night I took the train into the city and met up with her, her boyfriend and their friend after they had finished working.
Here is my face, I'm back to rocking winged eyeliner when I go out! I love it. I'm wearing Rimmel Kate Moss in 09 on my lips!

We ended up having dinner at Macchiato in Pitt St. I had a Texan woodfired pizza and Marcia and I shared a Mojito jug and the boys ordered us Tequila shots haha. I loved it in there. It had such a rustic feel and you will sort of see in the background later in this post. I loved the brick walls and the hanging lights! We then went back to hang out in their hotel room (via the bottle-o) where we had a few more drinks, Marcia and I shared some Cranberry Smirnoff (yes from the box) before I walked back to Town Hall station to get the train home.
We got her boyfriend to take a photo of us there ended up being about 90 photos! I had a really good night and it was so good to catch up with Marcia again after not seeing her for over a year. We hadn't seen each other since I left the airport in the Gold Coast so we spent so much time reminiscing about our crazy Gold Coast antics! I'll leave you with some photos of us having a laugh.
Sometimes talking to strangers on the internet isn't so bad.

PS. It's been playing on my mind for a while now, and I think I want to change the name of this blog. To something that isn't my name? Do any of you have any tips on how I can think of something? I can't seem to think of anything I like. xx

Double tap
My favourite social media platform of all time is Instagram. I love discovering new accounts and I love following accounts that post beautiful and amazing photos! There tends to be a running theme with Instagram photos and accounts I love and that's the style of photo and kind of filter they use (I suspect many people use VSCOcam which I have become obsessed with) I thought I would share some of my favourites with you - such a hard decision, let me tell you - and they're all Aussie too!
I am obsessed with Brooke's style, it's drop dead amazing! I also love her behind-the-scenes shots while she's styling on set - inspires and motivates me every time (and groan in jealousy haha what a lucky gal!)
While I've been going to uni and work (boring) I've also been vicariously living through Kiara's Instagram as she's been exploring Singapore and Japan (exciting)! Her outfit shots are also great, I first found her through her fashion blog.
Felicia's Instagram portrays the kind of live I would love to live - just seems so glamourous! Gorgeous photos, can't help but like every single one.
Again, I love the outfit shots and photos of clothes and food. I love a good overhead shot of beautiful food and so many Instagram photos form Tash and heaps of others constantly make me wish I ventured out to cute cafes and restaurants more.
Karissa posts a bit of everything from outfits to clothes to inspirational quotes. Such great quality!
Liz is best known for her website and posting photos of outfits from people off the street. She posts a lot of these on her Instagram and I love street style so instant points!! At the moment there's a few shots of street style she's seen at VAMFF!

Cinematic
I thought I would make a post that's a bit different from fashion and beauty and talk about some music that I'm really into at the moment. So today I'm going to talk about Illy!
Illy is an Australian hip hop artist from Melbourne. He has just released his fourth album Cinematic and is about to wrap up his national tour, which I actually attended last weekend at The Metro Theatre in Sydney!
The concert was freaking awesome - probably one of the best I've been to so far! I just absolutely love being in the middle of a crowd where everyone is belting out the lyrics together and jumping around - ah I live for that! I was in my own little world that night, in my happy place. It was just perfect.

My favourite song out of them all is definitely Cinematic! He actually closed the concert with it and it couldn't have been a better pick! You can hear a snippet of it here.

Catch up
Hi all I'm back! We finally got our wifi back today so I'm coming to you with a post straight away! First and foremost, thank you all so much for 100 FOLLOWERS on Bloglovin!! Crazy stuff!
I thought I would tell you some exciting things that have been happening in my world (well, my Instagram world haha). First I posted a flatlay last week to enter a competition for Westfield (shopping centre) and I tagged the brands in it. My favourite tanning brand then reposted the photo!
Then today Cosmopolitan Australia magazine's new beauty account reposted it! If you couldn't already tell I get excited when other brands and people repost me ;)
Then I posted another one on Wednesday and a certain name caught my eye.
Yep, the one and only Lauren Conrad (of Laguna Beach & The Hills fame) liked my photo!! WTF?! I honestly couldn't believe it. I thought it might have been a fake account at first but then I looked closely and the spelling was right! Out of all of the notifications she saw my photo?! Insane. Naturally, I freaked out.
Next thing I know I can't load my Instagram feed because of the sudden influx of notifications coming through! Right now the photo is at 295 likes - no biggie but the most likes I've ever gotten!
The little things, hey? Haha sorry for the hiatus, will be posting regularly again now! Need to get around to doing a very late February Favourites!
