Merry Christmas !!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas!! 

On Christmas Day I woke up and my brother, sister and I opened our Santa presents.

Note my Barney pillowcase as my Santa sack - I loved Barney when I was younger!!

Then when we got home from church we opened our presents from each other.

This year was our turn to host Christmas lunch with Mum's side of the family, then after lunch we cleared the tables and shared presents.

Then as per usual we spent Boxing Day with Dad's side of the family at my grandparents' place.

Then after lunch and presents we moved outside for photos again - since Mum had done it for her family the day before. We didn't get one of everyone on our camera so here's one from my cousin's Instagram (minus one of my other cousin's who was taking the photo)

Unrealistic Christmas List

Now that it is officially less than a month until Christmas, I thought I'd post a few things that I would love to receive (or even buy myself) but can't due to having two siblings and living off a student budget.

When the iPad mini was first released I thought it sounded a bit silly, I mean why not just get an original iPad? The other day my Mum bought one for herself with money she received from her boss last Christmas and now I'm lusting over it - it's so cute and actually a perfect size!

Again, the Marc Jacobs watch reappears (as previously mentioned in my first Wednesday Wishlist) and although I've shown my parents and told them this is a watch I would like, I decided that I'd rather get a few $20-$30 watches from K-Mart and Target etc (that I've picked out and bought of course) so switch things up a little, considering this MJ one is nearing the $200 price tag...

I never used to be a fan of Jeffrey Campbell Litas but, just like everyone else, I'm smitten. Solestruck.com currently has 50% off in the spirit of Black Friday, so I was going to buy a pair of the spiked ones for myself, but including shipping to Australia that still brings them to about $90 AUD! I mean, that is still a great deal seeing as they're about $120-180 most of the time, but I'm not made of money! I was going to ask if I could get them for Christmas instead and pay for half of them but before I even got the chance to ask, Mum had shut me down telling me she wasn't a fan and pretty much made me feel shit for even bothering showing her. They're sold out now anyway - which I'm not surprised at since they're 50% for onlt 24 hours, but I'm still gutted!

Last but not least, I would love an SLR camera - not necessarily the 600D shown (I've heard it's good) but just any in general. But obviously with the heavy pricetag, I will just have to save up and just borrow my Dad's SLR. If I had my own, I would just have the best photos for my blog and I would actually film regular Youtube videos because the quality would be amazing!

Oh a girl can dream.. Is there anything you would like to receive for Christmas and know there is no chance you will actually get it?!

Umm I'm not sure actually, I've never really had a favourite.

Probably just in my room like usual.. with my fan on. Or probably in my pool, or in the pool at a friend's house or even at the beach with friends, it depends really.

This is hard too! Umm, maybe Miley Cyrus' character from the movie LOL? I don't know, there's plenty of movies that I haven't seen haha.

I would have to say Benefit - even though they're quite expensive in Australia and I only have two of their products - I just adore their packaging and of course because their products are great! As for drugstore, I really like Maybelline, Australis and Revlon - I don't really have a favourite.

♥ Why is that your blog url?

A few years ago when I was changing my Tumblr url, I was looking around my room for inspiration when I saw my Britney Spears 'Curious' perfume and 'Full of Curiosity' just came to me and it stuck.

♥ What is your dream job?

I would love to be a feature writer or beauty writer for a fashion magazine, like Shop til you Drop.

I can't choose just one! Definitely between The Fault in Our Stars and Looking for Alaska, both by John Green, and The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. Oh and the Shiver series by Maggie Stiefvaster.

I absolutely love Daisy by Marc Jacobs (even though I don't own it... yet) but I love my Harajuki Lovers perfume in 'G'.. it smells like coconut and I need to get a new one because I'm very low.

Wednesday Wishlist #1

I would really love a Marc Jacobs watch. Obviously not both of these but I can't decide which I prefer.. I have always loved the top one, but I found the bottom one also saved in my bookmarks (which I had forgotten about). I just love how the 'Marc Jacobs' frames his watches.. and I like the bottom one because it shows the date and also for the touch of rose gold!

I love Forever New and often skip looking in the store because I know that I can't afford any of the gorgeous items in there! Or have anywhere to wear them..... but I went in on the weekend (then in two stores in the city yesterday) and saw this dress every time. I am in love! It looks great on the mannequin in the window and on the model in the photo as you walk in store but the $120 price tag just breaks my heart! I think it would be perfect to wear to the races!

Obviously there will be beauty products included as there is always something I am lusting over! Currently (and for a long time actually) want to try out the Caudalie Bauty Exilir/water, NARS bronzer in Laguna and the Soap & Glory Hand Food hand cream as I have heard nothing but great things about them.

Last but not least is a perfume that I have recently discovered - Viva La Juicy! I have heard a lot about this scent from Youtube beauty gurus and finally got to smell it for myself in Myer on the weekend and this one definitely gets a spot on my Christmas list!

Where have I been?

Yep you're reading this right, this is finally a post from me! I haven't posted on my Youtube channel or this blog since July?! Wow! I've honestly just felt really uninspired and have been quite busy. Let me update you on my life...

Let me think... what actually has happened since July? Anything? Well I passed my bridging course at university.. now I have nearly completed my first semester of a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Media and Communications! I am really enjoying it so far and definitely know that I have picked the right choice of heading into Journalism.

Work, I have been working a lot... well just my usual shifts and hours but it feels like I'm there too much! Sometimes it can be quite a miserable place to be but I am just glad that I work in a department store instead of fast food or anything haha!

Okay now that I'm finally getting around to making this post, my life seems kind of boring, hey?

Well basically my week is uni three times a week, work two weeknights and one or two days or afternoons on the weekend. Most Saturday nights are spent all made up and out clubbing with friends! I also go shopping or to lunch with a friend for a catch up, since I don't see them as often as I used to in high school.

Some little things.... I got my highlights done again - but that was about a month ago and I don't look any different so you probably wouldn't have even guessed.

I also bought an iPod touch a few months ago - since my spending on clothes, make-up, food, alcohol and petrol isn't exactly helping me save for an iPhone - so I now have an Instagram account! So you should definitely follow me @emhewitt_ so you can see what I get up to! (That's also my Twitter username if you're interested...)

I think that's about it... doesn't really make up for my lack of blogging but I'm lazy, okay?! Oh and if you haven't already noticed, I gave my blog a little makeover so tell me what you think!

Also forgive me if I don't post often in the next two or so weeks because I have three assignments due this week and next, then I have my exams coming up in three weeks.. so I will be free of university for this year on November 14th!

This week's book is The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky (which I'm sure you've allll heard of!). I read this over a year ago and instantly fell in love with it! I definitely recommend reading it, if you haven't already!

This more like two posts, but still one at the same time. I found this Project Perfect post on Lauren of Oh Little Red's blog which led me to the original by Flaws and All. Basically Project Perfect is where you post a photo of yourself that you like and you say why you like it, some things you don't like about yourself that others may like and some things that you do like about yourself. I absolutely love this idea and am planning to post my own soon!

LOTD | Clothes #1

I have enjoyed watching Louise of Sprinkle of Glitter on Youtube for quite a while now and have decided to join in with one of her blog challenges! (actually two, but more on that tomorrow)

This particular challenge is called Love Of The Day (or simply LOTD) and I will link you to her blog post because obviously her explanation is better than anything I could possibly come up with (since she y'know, came up with the whole thing) but basically each day has a theme where you post about something you have been lusting over! I thought this would be a great way to get me motivated to blog more often and to branch out and communicate with fellow bloggers!

As she states in her post, Mondays will be about clothes! (It's technically 12:35am on Tuesday right now here in Australia but shh!)

Today I am mooching over these JCrew Pixie Pants (which I mentioned in my wishlist that I posted earlier today). I've heard plenty about them over Youtube about how comfy they are and many other great things. JCrew actually isn't available here in Australia so I was thrilled to discover that JCrew ships to Australia (with free shipping too!) but there's a slight obstacle.... they are $125 AUD! So for now I will keep mooching and wishing and maybe some day (soon, in the near future?) they will be mine.

I am really looking forward to keeping at this challenge (and I will stick with it!) so I think that you should DEFINITELY join in!

Wishful thinking

1. MAC Mineralised Skin Finish in 'Soft and Gentle' | I have been wanting a highlight for so long now and have heard plenty about it on YouTube! It's around $47 here in Australia and I still need to purchase my first MAC product and I'm thinking it's about time I'm brave enough to fork out the money!

2. JCrew Pixie Pants | I have heard Ingrid (aka. Missglamorazzi) rave about these pants for so long and I recently looked them up online and JCrew now sends to Australia! (We don't have a store here). Unfortunately they are quite pricey at $125 but I'd love to own a pair!

3. YSL Rouge Volupte lipstick in 'Red Taboo' | First of all, just look at that gorgeous packaging! Last night I was lusting over these lippies online and discovered this shade in Rachel's (aka. icallitambrosia & 87daysbefore) favourite lipsticks video because I remember her mentioning a YSL one. She described it as a true red and after looking at swatches on various other sites this is the shade I'd love to splurge on!

4. NARS blush | I have always wanted a NARS product and I think a blush would be perfect! Still undecided on what shade I would like but a girl can dream, right?!

5. Real Techniques brushes | These brushes are by Samantha Chapman of pixiwoo and I have recently learnt that they are available in Australia! (and by recently, I mean today). They are only available in one place, which happens to be in the Sydney CBD, so I am definitely going to go into the city very soon and buy some for myself! They are also surprisingly cheap considering that make-up is quite expensive here in Australia compared to America.

6. Laura Mercier Mineral Powder | Today I was watching Gracie's (aka. UglyFaceOfBeauty) product rave about this and deicded that I have to have it! I looked on Myer's online shop earlier and I think that it's around $60-70 so I won't be getting it anytime soon, hahaha ;)

It's starting to get absolutely freezing in Sydney - especially in the heart of the city where I attend university - so I jeans or tights with boots or flats and a comfortable throw-on top and/or jacket has become my go-to outfits for uni!

I have had my eye on this top/sweater from Target for ages as I work there and always see it. I finally bought it yesterday and although it was a little thin for the cold breeze that was around today, it was definitely comfortable and suitable for uni. 

Also, I want to start doing outfit posts with my camera but I didn't have much time this morning so my webcam had to do!

Product Rave: Essence Gel Eyeliner

I bought this product weeks ago - actually over a month ago - but am only now just getting around to making this post about it. So obviously it's not as clean as the photos.. it has been well used and loved!

This gel eyeliner by Essence and is from their Sun Club range. It comes in various other colours including brown, purple, turquoise and more but I went for the black as I purchased it to see if it was really as great as I had heard about in YouTube reviews.. and it definitely is! It is creamy and glides onto the eyelid smoothly and easily. Unlike the Maybelline EyeStudio gel liner, this one has not yet dried up in the pot - in my experience anyway. You can even see the moisture droplets in the photos if you look close enough. 

Essence is available from Target in Australia and their products are very affordable! I can't remember the exact cost as I bought this so long ago but it was only $5-6! (Which I think is great compared to other brands, such as Maybelline, that can cost as much as $15 or more). I'm pretty sure most of their products are under $10 as well. I keep meaning to go back and look at more of  products from Essence - especially since I get a staff discount ;)
