Post 20 & Easter

Sorry for being MIA yet again, I've had a week break from uni so I decided to just relax during that time and get over my cold. I've just found some photos from my birthday which was a couple of weeks ago so I thought I'd share them with you, as well as what else I've been up to since then. I also got some foils done as a birthday present a few days prior so my dark roots are gone - I'm loving how blonde my hair looks again in photos!

If you follow me on Instagram (@emhewitt_) you would have seen that I went up to the Central Coast over the Easter weekend with my family. I haven't been for three years and luckily for me the weather was beautiful this year. We go with some of our family friends, who Mum & Dad were friends with when they were around my age, so it was nice to catch up with everyone. It was also a little strange as I have known their kids their whole lives and they are so much older now than when I last saw them!

I spent my time walking along the beach and I finally got around to reading 'It' by Alexa Chung, which I received for Christmas. The book was very hyped up so I was excited to read it. I'm still a bit confused as to what the point was, as there was no real story or continuity. It was a nice little insight to her thoughts and interests though and I loved the vintage-style photos in it.

I drove home on my own on Sunday because I had work and uni work to do during my week off and my family stayed until the following Saturday. I may have got a little lost on my way home so it took me three hours to get home instead of two like it should have... oops, I found my way eventually (thank you Google Maps!)

Now I'm back to uni and I can't believe I've only got about five weeks of the semester left! It's almost May - this year is going way too fast. End of semester means that I have a lot of assignments due soon - don't you just love group assignments (and the fact that they're all due around the same time!!!) Winter break can't come soon enough!!

Sick Day Face

For the past week I've been stuck with a miserable cold - started with a sore throat quickly followed by a blocked nose and headache. Luckily I managed to spend some time hidden inside with a bare face but (unfortunately) sometimes it's just not possible to hibernate inside for a whole week - there are places like uni and work to get to! I thought I would share what I put on my face to make myself look decent when I'm not feeling 100% to maybe give you some ideas if you're stuck in the same pickle as me and don't feel like 'packing' on the make-up!

Like always I start with my Arbonne Makeup Primer - seriously feels like velvet! When I'm sick I try to use as little as possible because the last thing I feel like doing is having a layer of foundation on my skin. Usually I dive straight into mineral powder but on this particular day my skin was feeling extra dry so I decided to use my Chi Chi BB Cream followed by my Arbonne Natural Radiance Mineral Powder. This stuff has light-reflecting technology in it which means it reflects natural light off the face in all of the right places, amazing for when I've been sick since my skin has looked extra dull (I'm not even wearing highlighter in these photos, it's this foundation working it's magic!) I also used an Avon stick concealer because my under-eye circles have been darker than usual because I've been so blocked up. Next I used Benefit's Hoola bronzer and Lollitint cheek tint to put some colour back into my face since I desperately needed it. I used Urban Decay's eyeshadow 'Naked' from the original Naked palette and Benefit's Gimme Brow to fill in my eyebrows like always. This day I was feeling a bit better than earlier in the week so I made the effort to subtly define my crease by using 'Naked 2' from UD's Naked Basics palette. Again, not wanting to 'pack' a lot of makeup on, I only used one mascara and went with Maybelline's Mega Plush Volum Express then finished off with Maybelline's Babylips in Pink.

Luckily I'm feeling much better *touches wood* and hopefully I'll be back to 100% soon enough! Hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend xx

Throwback

Wearing Paint It Red top and shorts, Rubi Shoes clogs, Sportsgirl clutch & Tiffany & Co ring

If you follow me on Instagram (which you totally should be - @emhewitt_) you would have seen this outfit a little while ago. I wore this out to dinner one night with the girls about five weeks ago and I am in love with it. It's gotten a bit chilly here lately so I haven't had another chance to wear this so I thought I better blog it since it's my favourite two piece in my wardrobe!

TARTAN TWENTY

On Saturday night I went out to a local pub and nightclub to celebrate my 20th birthday with some of my friends!

Wearing Target top & skirt, Rubi Shoes wedges (not pictured) & Mimco large leather pouch

The iPhone camera doesn't do my make-up justice and the fact that it gets dark earlier now didn't help either, but I tried my best haha. My face base is the same as my previous post (what I wore on my actual birthday and generally every day). For my eyes I used my well-loved Urban Decay Naked Palettes 1 & 3. Sidecar all over the lid, with Nooner (Naked 3) in the crease and Toasted on the outer edge blended into the crease. I had a black gel liner by Essence in my tightline and waterline and my favourite Maybelline Master Precise liner on my lids with a wing. I used my Maybelline Mega Plush Volum Express mascara and I wore false eyelashes for the first time. I used Revlon's Beyond Natural lashes in #91168 'Natural Defining' and they were only $10 from K-Mart! Since it was my first time I wanted ones that looked natural and even my make-up loving friends didn't spot they were false before I said so - success!! I wore a sheer Avon lipgloss in 'Watermelon' on my lips.

March Favourites 2014

ELLE Australia
It's kind of obvious that I'm obsessed with magazines but ELLE has quickly become one of my favourites!

Arbonne Makeup Primer
I've been trying a few make-up and skincare products from Arbonne during March and loving them all but special mentions to their primer! It leaves my skin feeling so smooth. I also own the Benefit Porefessional and only used to use that for special occassions due to the tube being so small but I've been using the Arbonne one most days (when I remember) and my makeup seems to stay on a bit better. Definitely one to try!

Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Yes I finally have it! I love this bronzer - it's matte and I find that it blends really well.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
Another cult product that I've been lusting over and finally own! I've only used this a few times during the month but I love it. I've really only owned neutral shades and palettes so this range of colours is a bit different for me. I especially love the shade 'Nooner'. If you're wondering how I got this in Australia, my friend's friend got this palette and Hoola from Hawaii.

Essie polish in 'Fiji'
I've loved this shade for a while but I don't think I've mentioned it yet. This is my go-to colour! It's just a really nice light pink that isn't too sheer. When I had acrylics I would take this with me to the salon for them to put on. (I was just looking through some old photos and I'm tempted to get them again!)

This year is flying by, I can't believe it's already April! It's my favourite month of the year though, due to it being my birthday (a week today to be exact!) Easter also falls in April this year and I love chocolate sooooo even better! ;)
